Roland Jackson, depot manager at The Pink Link in Huddersfield – a member of Palletways, Europe’s largest and fastest growing express palletised freight network – was runner-up for ‘Employee of the Year’ at the Huddersfield Examiner Business Awards.

Since starting with the company in 1991 as a nightshift operator, Roland’s skills, strengths and uncompromising desire to deliver a quality service to customers have been the foundation for his continual growth through the business.

In its quest for growth, The Pink Link has devoted much of the past twelve months to improving operational and business efficiencies. Roland has been the hub of this activity, coupling his extensive understanding of the business, gleaned from working for the company for the past 26 years, with his natural ability to motivate and lead people.

In 2017, The Pink Link helped to move a record breaking 5.4 million pallets around the Palletways UK network, marking the biggest year since the network’s launch in 1994. This year’s figure beat the previous year by over 300,000 pallets – with significant input from members like The Pink Link.

Paul Ince, joint managing director at The Pink Link, commented; “Roland is highly respected, not only within The Pink Link, but across the whole of the Palletways network. He has remained devoted to the company throughout his career here and treats every customer penny and company penny as if his own. He is the epitome of the company man.”

Vicki Davenport, fellow joint managing director, added: “Roland is the heartbeat of The Pink Link. The company’s extensive and loyal customer base is testament to Roland’s constant strive for perfection; where nothing is ever too much trouble whatever the circumstances or challenge.

“Working with Roland for 26 years has been the greatest pleasure, and the unsurprising praise he is lauded with from both internal and external people around The Pink Link is testimony to his contribution not only to the business, but to the careers and lives of everyone he has worked with.”

The Pink Link is one of over 110 independent transport providers that are part of the Palletways UK network. They benefit from shared expertise and resources from within the group to deliver consignments of palletised freight to market faster and more cost effectively than ever before. The Palletways Group comprises 400 depots and 17 hub operations, through which it provides collection and distribution services across 20 European countries, including the UK.
